The Organisasi Papua Merdeka (Free Papua Movement, OPM or FPM) is the National Liberation Organization of the People of West Papua which originated in the sixties to fight against the illegal Indonesian occupation of West Papua. The OPM recognizes the historic Proclamation made on 1 July 1971, in Markas Victoria, liberated territory, as the rejection of the 1969 fraudulent Act of No Choice, and upholds this Proclamation as the expression of the continuous struggle of the People of West Papua. The OPM operates under the 1 July 1971 Constitution, and the OPM Charter of 15 July 1977. The OPM and its military wing, the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) struggle for the unconditional recognition and respect of the right to self-determination and statehood of the People of West Papua, as guaranteed by the Charter of the United Nations and all relevant United Nations resolutions.
