Real Modal create backing tracks for modal improvisation. I found, through many years of improvising, that a lot of backing track just didn't feel modal when we were playing along. I think these do the job! New tracks will be uploaded regularly in all keys. Great for saxophone, trumpet, violin, piano, whatever you fancy... as well as guitar. Different time signatures, tempi, feels, as well as a range of modes from the familiar major scales to lesser used modes. New backing tracks are released every Friday. TWO BIRDS BATON RELAY PROJECT

There are many people who are currently confronted with the fact that they have to stay in due to the Covid19 restrictions. I personally thought of this project as one of the global attempts to help people enjoy traveling around on a daily basis. Two batons, representing two birds will be flying around from one artist’s hand to another. With my right hand I will be passing it on to a musician and with the left, a painter. Those friends will, in turn, pass the baton to a friend or a colleague from the same background. Much like visiting a gallery, or a concert venue, this experience might also invite you to travel through the times and minds of artists while you’re at home. 現在、外出自粛制限により不自由な生活を余儀なくされている方たちが、たくさんいらっしゃることと思います。 そこでそのような生活の中で、ほんの少しでも気分転換をして頂けたらと思い、この企画を考えました。 ここに2本のバトンがございます。これから私は右手のバトンを音楽家の友人へ、左手のバトンを美術家の友人へ渡します。 その友人達も又同じ様にバトンをつないでいきます。 その2本のバトンがそれぞれ鳥となって羽ばたいていき、そのバトンを受け取った友人達が素敵な芸術を披露致します。 そうして世界中の芸術が週に1、2回程度のペースで楽しめるという企画です。 家にいながらにして、まるでギャラリー又はコンサート会場にいるような気分を味わって下さい

I created this channel at the suggestion of my beloved music teacher, Madhuvanti Murali Mohan. Madhuvanti is a brilliant vocalist and Rudraveena player in the Dagarvani school of Dhrupad Hindustani music. Although I’m a very beginning student of Dhrupad, she thought I could inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to study Dhrupad—if I can enjoy the journey, anyone can! Through this channel I also hope to share the love and joy I experience when I sing or play Dhrupad. I’ll be posting videos of me singing different Ragas, playing Rudraveena, and talking about my journey learning this music. There will also be some videos of my cats, who love Dhrupad! It is said that all of nature responded to Tansen’s music, so it makes sense... I plan to add a section for children in the near future. Please feel free to leave comments.
