Original Pallavi compositions by Smt Vijayalakshmi Nathan of Mumbai intended to serve as a teaching tool for carnatic music lovers and aspirants wishing to master and perform the fine art of the pallavi. 20 Pallavis in 19 Raagams, 20 distinct thaalams including 12 pallavis representing the various alankaarams and 8 nada pallavis have been featured here with lyrics and notations in Tamil provided at the end of each piece; over 9 hours of vocal music recorded non stop in 2 sittings by the artist who turns 80 in 2017! Smt Vijayalakshmi Nathan was bestowed the popular title of "Pallavi Vijayam" as a young girl of 14 by the music lovers of Mumbai.
