Anton Pann Ensemble was established in the autumn of 2003 at the initiative of several students from The National University of Music and The Faculty of Orthodox Theology, in Bucharest directed by Constantin Răileanu.
Our ensemble wishes to rediscover and promote old Romanian music since medieval period till late 19th century (these songs have never been sung), and enhance the value of Romanian musical tradition by trying to play as close to the musical ethos of the time.
Our research work has begun by studying old Romanian musical manuscripts and it extended to other culture's songs met all over Romania, the band also performing songs with religious and secular character, like carols and other holiday custom, trying to expose to the world, as close as possible to reality, these musical jewels.
