Tuning a 8-string down one whole tone, then the lowest string down another whole tone, yields a Drop D tuning an entire octave lower than standard! Used in some demos/experiments, probably works best with unison bass

I have found this tuning to be the perfect tension for stringjoys 85-11 set, it is definitely the sweet spot for the tone and is tight enough to get a fast action.
